The main focus is on customer service and leadership skills. The course would be run over 3 weeks (3 hrs per week). The course would be as follows; Week 1 - a generic overview of the roles and responsibilities of volunteers. It will explore different scenarios so that volunteers are aware of what might be expected of them and what they can gain from being a volunteer. Included in the first week would be time keeping, confidentiality and legislation such as health and safety, safeguarding and equality. Week 2 - An overview of customer service looking at dealing with difficult situations, responding to challenge and working as part of a team. Week 3 - Taking it further - becoming a community champion, looking at opportunities within the community, developing leadership skills and formulating individual action plans. After the course, learners will be more confident volunteers, who will be able to contribute more to their local community, increasing community cohesion and being more self-reliant. Volunteering is a recognised method of preparing to return to work and to gain work related skills. It can also contribute to tackling feelings of isolation and help reduce the risk of depression. By encouraging people to become more active in their local community and to support others. The aims are; · Improve learner's employability skills · Increase self-esteem by encouraging people to contribute to the community. · Encourage stronger communities which are more self-sufficient and connected. · Engage partner organisations in developing the training.
