This course will give you the chance to develop your skills further through using a more complicated pattern than you have done previously. You will be able to bring a dressmaking pattern of your choice to class and your tutor will help you to construct and make the garment. If you are unsure as to what kind of pattern to choose then please wait and speak to your tutor on the first session. The class will be gathered together throughout the course to share learning and to be shown techniques common to the garments being made. There will be a recap on previous learning through identifying the key steps and principles of making a garment from measuring and choosing the correct pattern to fit, to laying out pattern pieces and cutting, through to construction and finishing techniques such as trimming and snipping corners and curves. During the course: You will learn how to fit a concealed zip and build on your zip fitting knowledge. You will learn how to tackle more complex ways of constructing garments through following the instructions in the pattern. You will learn how to adapt the pattern for your figure to ensure a perfect fit. You will be able to choose a more adventurous patterns such as trousers or a shirt for example.
