A Level Art & Design (Fine Art) In Year 13 students will develop one major project based on a theme and a contextual study to a topic of their choice, along with an essay between 1000 – 3000 words (a compulsory component of the course). How will I be assessed? AQA AS Level Art & Design (Fine Art) specification (new specification from 2015): 60% Coursework 40% Exam – 1st February each year. AQA A Level Art & Design (Fine Art) specification: 60% Coursework 40% Exam – 1st February each year. In line with other new subjects introduced in September 2015, the full A Level grade is based completely on a portfolio of work completed over Year 12 and Year 13 in addition to an exam at the end of Year 13. Once a student continues beyond AS Level then their AS grade does not contribute towards the A Level mark.
