UPDATED 20160201 12:02:00

A Level Computing is suited to learners who have a good grounding in Maths. You will learn how to use programming language such as Pascal, Python and Java and will develop a full understanding of the fundamentals of programming, of data representations and of computer systems. You will be assessed through a practical on-screen examination which is focused on programming through a problem-solving scenario. You will focus on hardware and software aspects of computing and the social and economic consequences of it. In your second year you will concentrate on computational thinking, what can be computed, programming and problem-solving. You will be required to write a report on a computer-based programmed solution to a problem solving exercise; you may choose to create a solution to an organisations data-processing problem or to a scientific or mathematical problem.
