Car Maintenance for Beginners

This course is for you if you would like to carry out simple repair tasks on your car but do not know where to start. The course is aimed at everyone, from the complete novice to the person who has had a go but lacked the confidence to complete a service on their own. During the course you will learn Health and Safety when working on motor vehicles and repair techniques for: Wheels and tyres. Braking systems. Cooling systems. Battery and charging systems. All this will culminate in you being able to carry out a basic service on a car. This will enable you to : Jack up vehicles safely and correctly Remove and refit wheels. Remove and refit brake pads. Check and measure braking components for wear or damage. Change engine oil and oil filter. Change radiator coolant. Check the cooling system for leaks plus test antifreeze content. Test and jump start the vehicle battery. Check charging rate of the alternator. Carry out an interim service on a car.
