BTEC National Extended Diploma Art & Design (Fine Art)

This course will help you develop your practical skills within a range of art and design specialist areas. During the first year of the course you will be introduced to some of the materials, techniques and processes associated with Fine Art, Photography, Graphic Design and Fashion and Textiles, developing practical skills across the range. In addition to this you will expand your contextual understanding of Art and Design and develop your research skills. During the second year of the course you will choose a specialist pathway. If you are inspired by the prospect of experimenting within the exciting and varied field of Fine Art we will encourage you to consider the vibrancy of both historical and contemporary Fine Art practice. You will explore the creative potential of a wide range of media, working in both 2D and 3D. Responding to a range of creative briefs, you will develop a variety of individual responses. Initial areas of study will include; painting, sculpture, printmaking, illustration and ceramics. All practical work will be supported by the study of Art theory and Art history.
