A/S and A-Level Art and Design

UPDATED 20161017 10:40:43

Students complete a portfolio of work and at the end of the year there is a final exam. At AS it is 10 hours and at A2 it is 15 hours. The projects in both years vary according to the individual teacher’s ideas and are also dependent on current exhibitions/artist workshop opportunities etc… Observational drawing is an integral part of the course and the first half term focuses on this skill and the theme of portraiture, using a range of media. In Y13, students are encouraged to work on a much larger scale and also in a more individual way. Artist research is integrated into the projects through homework which is on a weekly basis.
