Diploma In Animal Care

Providing a comprehensive introduction to all aspects of animal care, students will benefit from a mix of theory combined with a large degree of practical work at our custom built animal management unit. You will learn about the structure and function of the animal body, animal welfare, animal health and nursing. Throughout the course you will be required to complete approximately 10 weekend and holiday days at the unit to further develop your practical skills in addition to work experience in the industry throughout the year. Course Content includes: Maintain animal health and welfare; Undertake practical and animal feeding; Introduction to animal behaviour and handling; Understand the principles of animal biology; Undertake the principles and practices of animal establishments; Maintain animal accommodation; Undertake work related experience in animal care; Functional skills. Successful students can further enhance their skills by enrolling onto a work-based qualification, Apprenticeship or the Level 3 Extended Diploma. Alternatively, should they wish to do so, they may gain employment within the industry. Applicants wishing to pursue a career as a veterinary surgeon through studying a degree in Veterinary Science at one of the UK veterinary colleges are advised to contact the relevant university regarding specific entry requirements prior to starting an Animal Management course at Hadlow.
