Sociology gives you the opportunity to step outside the box in which you have been placed by your gender, class, education, ethnicity and age. Sociology enables you to understand the labels other people, groups and organisations may have given you. Sociology provides you with the evidence and skills to challenge these labels and examine society itself. 'If you are you inquisitive and willing to immerse yourself in a study of Britain and the world today, then sociology could be your choice at A-Level.' (Sara, Sociology student) Sociology will provide you with the methods, together with a range of skills, through which to participate in a scientific evaluation of your place in the world.
