This qualification builds on the knowledge, understanding and process skills developed in GCSE. You will study some familiar physical chemistry topics in more detail such as atomic structure, bonding, energetics and kinetics. In addition you will expand upon your GCSE study of organic and inorganic chemistry to explain issues ranging from the holes in the ozone layer, to the synthesis of aspirin, to how thalidomide acted to such devastating effect.
