ILEX courses can provide a bridge for those wishing to follow the Legal Executive qualification route. The ILEX Legal Secretarial qualifications are awarded through'in-course' assessment of six assignments: * Legal text * Audio transcription * Principles of liability * Criminal liability * The business in the legal environment Plus an external proofreading test, which requires spelling, grammar and punctuation skills at an appropriate level. Assessment will test keyboarding speed and accuracy and the presentation of legal documents, as well as placing a strong emphasis on written communication administration and research skills. Completed assignments will be marked by an authorised assessor and then both internally and externally verified plus one exam and two assignments for Law. Additional OCR examinations in Text Processing and speed keying are also undertaken together with Functional Skills IT at an appropriate level. In the past students have gone into legal secretarial positions, medical administration, the civil service or have become Personal Assistants.
