The programme is built around supporting you in setting up and running a micro business for a period of at least four months. You'll learn about business specific areas like: - Business planning and finance - How to set up a supply chain - Communicate with your customers - Monitor the performance of your business - Plan for future expansion. You'll also learn more about yourself- and how to develop an entrepreneurial mindset. You'll interact with both national and local entrepreneurs- working on a range of business challenges. You will have the opportunity to work closely with a local business- spending time in a number of different departments- and working on real business issues agreed with the employer.

The course will run from 9am - 5pm- four days a week. You are required to wear business attire for the duration of the course. You will need to pay £100 contribution to specific course related visits and trips which will provide you with opportunities to develop your business. (This is payable in two payments as follows £50 in September and the remaining £50 in January.) You will need to buy appropriate stationary to assist your study and will be expected to arrive to lessons prepared (i.e. with a pen- notebooks and folders.) Good levels of English and Maths are important for your success in your course- your chosen vocation and life. Throughout your course you will continue to develop your English and Maths skills in your vocational classes. If you haven't achieved an A*-C grade in English or Maths at GCSE- or a Level 2 Functional Skill- you will also be working towards a qualification in English or Maths at a level that will enable you to progress towards these grades.
