You will learn about the technical and practical skills needed to make garments, including basic patterns, pattern adaptation, hand and machine sewing skills, pockets and other details, zips and fastenings, characteristics of different fabrics, standard and personal body measurements, making up and finishing techniques. The course is based at Newham Colleges East Ham Campus (ten minutes walk from East Ham tube) in our modern and well-equipped garment production and pattern cutting workshops. By the end of the course you will have a folder of sewing samples and garment making techniques, and you will have produced a collection of fully-finished garments for your wardrobe.
