History: The Era of Ramesses the Great - Ancient Egypt's 19th Dynasty

This course will explore the Egypt of empire, battles, peace treaties and art during the 19th Dynasty of the New Kingdom. As part of our historical review of the period we study the magnificent temple of Seti I at Abydos, read his son Ramesses II's accounts of the Battle of Kadesh and consider the Nubian temples of Ramesses II including that of Abu Simbel and the tombs of Valley of the Kings
