English Functional Skills - Level 2

You will learn to read, understand and compare texts to identify information, ideas, arguments and opinions. You will write a range of texts including extended documents communicating ideas and opinions. You will use different writing styles and will work on structuring and organising your writing. You will develop your punctuation and grammar. You will contribute to discussions in a range of contexts and make efficient presentations. As part of your programme homework will be set which is required for course completion. Yes. Before you can enrol on this course, you need to have an interview and take an initial assessment test. Class work will sometimes be in pairs or small groups, and sometimes as a whole group. Your tutor will also work with you individually. You will be given homework on a regular basis. You will receive regular feedback from your tutor throughout the course, as and when appropriate. At the end of the course you and your tutor are asked to assess the progress you have made. Your tutor will give you verbal feedback as a group during the session, and written feedback on paper exercises you do. You will decide individual learning goals with your tutor and see your progress over the term by keeping a folder of work. There will be informal tests and practice exams.You will be able to study for the 3 parts of the EDEXCEL Functional English at Level 2 depending on your initial assessment and diagnostics during the course. The 3 sections consist of English Speaking and Listening, Reading and Writing exams to achieve the full qualification. You will be able to talk to your tutor in one to one meetings about your learning during tutorials. Your tutor will ask for your feedback as a group at different times during the session and in course reviews. You will be able to formally record your views on the course at the end by completing an evaluation form. You may also complete SFA & OFSTED surveys.
