Duration: 1 year Units covered in the course include: - An introduction to working with children - The developing child - Safe',' healthy and nurturing environments for children - Children and play - Communication and professional skills - The child care practitioner in the workplace - Supporting children with additional needs - The physical',' social and emotional development and care needs of children under eight years - How to provide appropriate play and learning experiences - The range of providers',' and preparing for employment. You will undertake a work placement of two days a week',' plus two block weeks per term. There may be the opportunity to complete a First Aid course. You may also study GCSEs in Maths and /or English. You will be assessed by written assignment',' multiple-choice question papers and work-based assessment. Entry Requirements: You need four GCSEs including English and maths',' at grade D or above',' or a Level 1 qualification at distinction and English and maths functional skills. You will be interviewed and DBS checked',' which could affect your placement. Career Options: Step up to a Level 3 course',' or find work in a variety of careers',' such as preschool or crŠche assistant',' or mother's help/au pair.
