Duration : 1 year This course is intended for those who wish to work in the catering industry as chefs',' and builds on the skills developed on the Level 1 VRQ. It gives a broad range of knowledge',' including: - Investigating the catering and hospitality industry - Food health and safety awareness - Healthier foods and special diets - Kitchen operations',' costing and menu planning - Applying workplace skills Functional skills of English',' Maths and ICT are a key part of this course. Assessment is by assignments',' and theoretical and timed practical tests. Please note that you will be required to purchase equipment and clothing from an external supplier for this course. Entry Requirements: You need four GCSEs at grades D or above',' and one grade C in either maths or English or successful completion of the Level 1 VRQ. We will also consider you if you have at least three years' relevant industry experience. Career Options: A Level 3 VRQ/NVQ or an Apprenticeship in a related subject area. You could also work in a post such as chef de partie in a kitchen.
