Painting - Flowers

This is a beginners level watercolour course in Sevenoaks - Painting Flowers. The focus is upon the development of drawing and watercolour painting skills, applied to the observation of plants. Students will benefit from the warmly supportive atmosphere., By the end of the course students should be able to :-, , Demonstrate an understanding of patterns in plant growth and employ strategies to portray it visually , • Be able to use a wide range of tonal values, • Show some understanding of the technical process of mixing and matching colour , • Demonstrate an ability to use a range of basic painting techniques, including laying washes, wet in wet, and wet on dry, , Students who are interested in painting flowers, botanical drawing and painting, or general drawing and painting. Students are encouraged to explore a wide range of interpretation, from highly representational to impressionistic/abstracted.. It is important to note that art courses are practical and require a degree of manual dexterity

Entry requirements

If you are a new student and have no materials please wait for your tutor's advice on what to buy. However, all students should bring an A4 sketchbook of good quality cartridge paper, preferably with a hard cover and a couple of pencils. You will need to provide your own materials and these will vary in cost according to the course requirements. If you have any materials/equipment that might be appropriate please bring them with you. These could include any water based media such as watercolour, acrylic or gouache paints, brushes, palettes (an old plate is fine), and watercolour paper.
