Drama - Interpreting the Text is a course that is designed to deepen the students' dramatic & literary appreciation of texts. The focus will initially be on a creative response to text which will develop into a fuller understanding of dramatic & social convention through shared interaction with others. A study of genre and style will inform the work in order to enable the students to appreciate the playwright's intention & to perform in the appropriate manner. Stanislavsky and Peter Brook's approach to interpreting text will heighten the student's awareness of performance in action. An analysis of text interpretation will be facilitated by practice of communication & literary skills in a group setting., , Through the course you will:, , • Unlock creativity through individual, pair and small group interpretation of texts., • Undertake an analysis of language and the literary device, • Lend a cutting edge to the performance of texts through in depth analysis & interpretation., • Develop communication skills through the group endeavour and the process of interpreting the text., • Demonstrate a fuller awareness of the appropriate style and genre and how to perform it, • Apply a knowledge Stanislavsky's & the practitioners' approach and how it can deepen interpretation of texts, • Give a presentation of a short piece with group support
