This 'Creative Writing - Introduction to Poetry' one day course in Sittingbourne is designed to introduce those new to poetry writing to the processes that can make a 'pile of words' into a poem. It is also designed to help more experienced poets identify and explore the narrative techniques and language of poetry in a variety of poetic forms. Students will read, discuss and develop the work of published poets, explore issues of metre and rhythm, and write both individually and collaboratively., , By the end of the course students should be able to:, , • Identify and discuss a range of poetic forms and techniques, • Express themselves effectively through poetry, • Write poetry in a variety of forms, , Students should also be able to constructively evaluate their own and others' work., , The course involves reading and note taking, and also provides opportunities to write creatively in a range of poetic formats, discuss the writing process, and constructively evaluate their own and others' work., , This course is for beginners who would like to develop or improve their poetry writing skills.,
