Spend two days exploring the colours and textures of the world around you and learn techniques drawn from Cas Holmes's own creative practice. We will look at found materials and themes based on locality or your own special place as a means to stimulate creative approaches in the creation of mixed media collages. On day one, fabric and paper will be altered through a variety of experimental mark making and print processes. These will then be stitched and manipulated on the second day to create samples and develop ideas for your own work in textiles and/or paper., , By then end of the course you will have:, - explored different material usage for collage and mixed media projects, - looked at the use of found images relating to a 'sense of place' as a starting point for experimental work, - explored design possibilities with found materials, Students interested in a simple introduction to experimental paper and textile methods for mixed media work.

Please being with you A collection of paper (ie tissues, brown paper, magazines, oriental hand made paper, photocopies of favourite images and text); a small collection of waste fabric; 1 plastic white pedal bin liner; notebook and pencil; apron; scissirs. Also bring in any favourite drawing materials (including wax crayons) you may have. Yellow, blue and red ink or waterolour meeia/Koh-i-Nor paints if you havetheem. Threads and needle for stitching (optional). Think of Spring themes. All should fit in one carrier bag!
