Sugarcraft - Royal Icing

This course is designed as an introduction to decorative techniques with royal icing. , , You will be shown how to make royal icing and learn a range of basic piping techniques including how to pipe lines, dots, shells and simple decorative borders. You will then progress to looking at run-out decorations, stenciling and brush embroidery. During the course you will work on practice boards before applying the techniques learnt to decorate a cake. You will also use the techniques learnt to decorate cookies., , By the end of the course students should be able to:, - make royal icing, - demonstrate basic piping techniques, - make run out decorations, - demonstrate stenciling techniques , - complete a simple brush embroidery design, - decorate a cake and cookies with decorative royal icing techniques, - use tools and equipment safely , , There is no set 'homework', but you are welcome to practise and do further work at home., There is no qualification for this course., , Please be aware that the items produced throughout this course are for educational purposes only, not for consumption. This Sugarcraft course at is suitable for anyone interested in learning basic decorative royal icing techniques. Some experience of cake decoration and baking would be helpful as you will need to supply an iced cake and biscuits for part of the course - however, plain iced cakes and cookies are usually available from most supermarkets.
