Creative Writing - Express Yourself

UPDATED 20160113 14:00:20

There are many reasons for wanting to develop one's imaginative potential apart from getting published. These include self-insight, pleasure in creating something, the joy of sharing ideas, mental well-being, the laying of ghosts and the improvement of self worth. This course will aim to help you develop your writing in a way which suits your motivations and interests. Its emphasis is on self-expression and the exploring of ideas., Each week we will take a theme or a technique and work on it with a view to extending your range and honing your skills. You will be asked to write a short piece at home each week for sharing the following week., The course is not designed around any specific genre. Its purpose is to broaden the mind about writing and to set ideas running. It will help you to grow in confidence and will allow you to meet like-minded people. , At the end of the course you will:, * be able to demonstrate understanding of several writing techniques, * have explored various genres of writing, * have compiled an anthology of your own work usng several different genres, * be confident to read a piece of your work to others, * be able to use supportive and contructive ways of assessing your work and that of others. It will suit beginners and aspiring writers, those who just enjoy writing and want to learn more, and anyone who is interested in exploring and sharpening their self-expression.
