If you have some experience of oil painting, are relatively new to the medium, or you are in need of a refresher, then this course is for you. Through a wide range of tutor led projects, you will learn new oil painting techniques based on the work of both historical and contemporary painters. You will have the opportunity to experiment and develop your style through the creation of original pieces of artwork. , There is a structured but relaxed learning plan which will identify your individual needs, to help you reach your goals as you continue to practise and develop your skills. , By the end of the course you will be able to:, Make choices about subject matter and composition, through the use of reference material and observational drawings., Use a wider range of painting techniques., Understand the qualities of a wider range of painting materials including - brushes, surfaces, paints and solvents., Be aware of and work to relevant Health and Safety guidelines. Students who have completed the Beginners course or have some experience of using Oil Paint. , The course is also suitable for those who would also like to refresh their practice in this medium. It is important to note that art courses are practical and require a degree of manual dexterity.,

You should bring an A4 sketchbook of good quality cartridge paper, preferably with a hard cover and ring bound and a variety of pencils. You will need to provide your own materials and these will vary in cost according to the course requirements. If you have any paints or brushes you think may be suitable please bring tham along to the lessons and the tutor will advise you further.
