Studying Literature will develop your reading but also your writing style, and help you to work independently and creatively - skills highly valued by employers and welcomed as an entry qualification to University courses such as English, Journalism, Media, Communication Studies, or Law. At AS level you will study six literary texts over one year. Module 1 - (coursework), A Midsummer Night's Dream (Shakespeare) and one other play. You will begin studying these texts in September and hand in both essays (1200 words each) by the end of November. The focus of this module is COMEDY.
