This Access course is designed to prepare students who have the ability for entry in to Higher Education, if you do not already have the standard requirements needs for university entrance. The course is accredited by Open College Network (OCN) and carries nationally recognised certification. Successful completion of an Access course is recognised by most universities as a qualification for entry to Higher Education. Although there are no age limits to gain entry to this qualification, you are advised that this course is best suited to the needs of adults/mature learners. It is a full course delivered in 1 year and is assessed by assignments and examinations. You will study a range of topics designed to enhance study skills to enable you to succeed on a Higher Education programme in Social Science. As well as focusing on academic skills, we will develop your communication, numeracy and presentation skills to meet the demands of a degree in Social Science or related subjects.

This will include examinations, online tests, essays, assignments, projects and practical assessments. Compulsory subjects include: - Introduction to Sociology: this unit provides an understanding of the general principles and concepts of sociology; - Introduction to Psychology: this will outline the main theories and concepts of psychology; - Introduction to Social Policy: this will explore what is meant by Social Policy and its relevance to life in current every day usage.
