The Extended Diploma in Applied Science is a two year full-time programme that is equivalent to three A levels. The course consists of 18 units that are delivered across two years allowing you to explore the applications of the three main disciplines of Science: Physics, Chemistry and Biology. Other subject areas include Mathematics, Statistics and Psychology. The course aims to give you the opportunity to develop your skills, knowledge and understanding by experiencing work across a range of contexts in Physics, Chemistry and Biology. Scientific practical investigations are seen as very important aspect of the course and continue throughout the two years along with critical studies. In your first year, you will have the chance to lay the foundations of your scientific practical skills and techniques. It will include more Chemistry investigations than the other two disciplines, while the second year will focus more on Biological techniques. You will progress onto the Extended Diploma after successful completion of the Diploma in the first year.
