GRAPHIC DESIGN LEVEL 3 UAL DIPLOMA IN ART & DESIGN (QCF)

UPDATED 20160111 11:53:16

If you are committed to and sure about the field of graphic design, then this is the course for you. This qualification is designed to give you a thorough experience in a wide range of approaches in this field. It will also give you the right qualifications to apply to university or to try for a junior design position in the industry. Note: Students enrolling for the Level 3 Diploma are normally registered in the first instance on the Diploma with progression to the full Extended Diploma after one year, subject to completing the coursework satisfactorily. This is a challenging, broad-based 90 credit course related to Graphic Design. The aims of the course are to develop your skills through a series of projects that explore and build on creative thinking strategies and the use of materials techniques and processes. The course is predominately practical and you will spend most of your time in the purpose-built Graphics Studio using the suite of Apple Mac computers and scanners. There are also low-tech image techniques which you will use to create dynamic spreads and typographic statements. You will be taught by a team of lecturers most of whom are or have been designers and illustrators and who will encourage an experimental approach and cutting-edge practice. Your work will be very much in line with contemporary industry practice and will be based on finding creative solutions to realistic problems. The practical work is supported by a programme of contextual studies and this includes a number of visits to galleries and museums.
