This is a broad-based, practical degree for people who enjoy making objects or designing spaces. You will be introduced to Product Design, Furniture Design, Jewellery Design, Glass, Ceramics, Interior Design, and be taught how to research effectively. In the second year, you have the opportunity to specialise in three subjects of your choice and study the software and business skills needed to work as a professional. During this year you are encouraged to undertake design commissions, design shows such as (ELDS) East London Design Show and work placements. In the third year, you will make a set of work, based around a self-written assignment, focusing on the skills and ideas that have become your strength during the course. This course has been validated by the Open University. The course is designed to offer a wide range of skills and expertise that will increase your job opportunities. You will be able to make professional links both locally and across London through visits and work placements. There are also international study trips offered during the course. In the second year, you can specialise in three subjects and in your final year you can choose how many subjects and what materials you want to work in.
