Travel and Tourismis now one of the largest sectors in the world in terms of generating jobs and income. It is a dynamic and vibrant sector which makes a major contribution to the UK economy with many different industries forming part of it. Currently there are more than two million people employed in tourism in the UK, so there are lots of opportunities for you to find a rewarding career in the industry, either at home or overseas. This one year course has been designed to meet the needs of those who want to work in the travel and tourism industry, for example: holiday centres, tour operator companies, travel agencies, cruise line companies or conference events organisations. The course will allow you to learn, develop and practise the skills required for employment and/or career progression in the travel and tourism sector. Many of the course Units will be delivered together with all students; however you will have the flexibility to choose your own study route for part of the course to help your progression in either the retail or business travel sector. Study Route 1 is designed to relate to working in the retail environment and business travel; Study Route 2 comprises Airfares Ticketing and Global Distribution Systems.
