Business Studies is a very popular and well-established subject. As most of us work in some form of business organisation, it is without doubt one of the most important and relevant subjects to study. Basically, Business Studies is a combination of subjects which includes marketing, finance, economics, human resource management, business ethics, operations management, business strategy and law, to list a few. The Business Studies student learns about business behaviour but also how business organisations are affected by the environment in which they operate.Examples of issues studied include the following: - How does a business market its products in such a tough and competitive business world? - This year, Tesco announced an annual profit of 2.3billion! What makes a company so profitable? - What production techniques should a business organisation adopt? What has made Japanese companies so successful in this area? - Why might one business try to maximise profits while another company adopts a strategy of sales maximisation? - Companies like Body Shop claim to be ethical . What does this mean? Should businesses involve themselves with green concerns and moral issues? Is, for example, testing on animals justifiable? Entry requiremnts At least 5 A*- C grades at GCSE, with designated B grades and an average GCSE Score of at least 5. Designated B grade is English language.
