This course is for those with an interest in developing their teaching skills. You should have an idea of the subject/area you would like to teach and ideally hold qualifications or have relevant work experience in the subject you want to teach. The Award in Education and training is designed for both people who need a nationally recognised training qualification to successfully deliver certain areas of their professional role and for those who might be considering a career in teaching or training but want to test the water before committing to a longer or more expensive course. During the course you will participate in a range of activities designed to reflect the current methodology of student-centred teaching. You will learn how to engage difficult or unwilling students and how to ensure students reach their full potential through stimulating and motivating activity. You will understand how people learn and how to plan lessons accordingly. You will explore the limits of the teacher s role and see how this goes beyond simple subject delivery. You will be enabled to design meaningful assessment activities, to avoid death by powerpoint and know how to include students with a wide range of learning preferences.
