The main subjects are: integrated science (biochemistry and biology), human science (physiology) and health, nutrition and psychology units. The course consists of twenty individual units which are made up of five study skills units and fifteen subject units. The study skills units will develop your ICT and academic reading and writing skills which are essential to prepare you for both level three and university study. Students will begin with understanding the role of the health care professions, human biology, biological chemistry and the NHS. Study skills will be an integral part of the first term ensuring that students have the required underpinning academic development of their English, maths and ICT skills. Units will then be packaged from general exploration to more in depth and detailed analysis so that students are able to build new knowledge in incremental stages (chemistry, biology, psychology of health and nutrition).
