The Subsidiary Diploma course is made up of six units - three Core Units studied in Year 1 and three Specialist Units in Year 2. Each Unit is assessed solely by assignments.YEAR 1 - BTEC CertificateThe three Core Units are:1. Dispute Solving in the Legal System: This unit teaches you about the hierarchy of the court system and the different roles of its personnel (judges, magistrates, solicitors, barristers, etc). You will also look at the alternatives to taking a case to court, and the finance available for legal issues.2. Understanding Law Making: This explains how legal and statutory rules are created and how they are interpreted by legal professionals. You will also look at European law and the role of the EU.3. Aspects of Legal Liability: This unit looks at the law of negligence and the rules on measuring and paying damages.
