This course will develop your knowledge of working in health and social care and children and young people's settings and prepare you for Level 2 study. You will develop a range of skills and techniques, personal skills essential for working successfully with children and young people. The course is suitable for school leavers who would like a career in children and young people's services or in health and social care and wish to progress to level 2 study. You will study: * Safeguarding * Communication * Healthy Eating * Children and Young Peoples Development You will have the opportunity of completing work experience with children and young people, or in a care setting. You will also study a range of City & Guilds units aimed at improving employability skills. All students aged 16-19 are required to study Functional English and Maths qualifications or GCSE Mathematics and English if not already awarded a grade A*-C in these subjects. If you have a grade D at GCSE you will study maths and/or English GCSE. Students with a grade lower than D will work towards GCSE through the study of Maths and English Functional Skills. Students aged 19+ are strongly encouraged to take relevant maths and English qualifications to support progression into further or higher education, training or employment.
