This is a practical, work related course. You will learn by completing projects and assignments that are based on realistic workplace situations, activities and demands. You will focus on a particular subject area and develop a range of specialist skills and knowledge. The course is suitable for school leavers and adults who would like a career in the IT industries or who are progressing from related level 2 programmes. You will study the following eight mandatory units: * Communication and Employability Skills for IT * Computer Systems * Information Systems * Network Management * Computer Networks * Communication Technologies * IT Technical Support * IT Systems Troubleshooting and Repair and ten selected optional units, which might include: * Client Side Customisation of Web Pages * Digital Graphics * Multi Media Design * Web Server Scripting * System Analysis * Web Site Production * Procedural Programming * Mathematics for IT Practitioners * Home/Small Business Networks (CCNA1 Discovery) * Working at a Small/Medium Business (CCNA2 Discovery) * Routing Switching * Support Computer Network (CCNA4 Discovery) All LMC students will receive tutorial support. All students aged 16 -19 are required to study Functional English and Maths qualifications or GCSE Maths, English if not already awarded an A*-C in these subjects. Students aged 19+ are strongly encouraged to take relevant Maths and English qualifications to support progression into Further or Higher education, training or employment.
