This exciting course offers a wide range of textile design opportunities. Textile design involves, creation, selection and manipulation across a wide variety of practices embracing both traditional and contemporary textiles disciplines. Disciplines include constructed textiles, dyed textiles, printed textiles and fashion, knitting, weaving, embroidery and investigation into natural and manufactured materials that are used in all aspects of fashion or furnishing. Students are required to :- • Research and generate ideas then develop using materials, processes and being able to evaluate the outcomes • Understand a range of materials, equipment and processes and techniques to develop designs to produce the final outcome • Students will need to understand and use work from other designers, movements, styles and traditions • Students will be required to keep both a portfolio and sketch book documenting their work
