The Digital Graphic Design Course: Layout and Design Principles

This is an introductory course in digital graphic design. You will learn about the design process, how to plan and develop ideas, and how to use images and text in design work. You will work on short projects and one core assignment each term. By the end of the course you will be able to produce a range of work including logos, package design, brochures and magazine layout. Working with industry standard software, Adobe InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop, you will develop a portfolio of projects. Each term will focus on a different topic within the design process: Term 1 - Basic layout, composition and design, Term 2 - Typography and using text, Term 3 - Advanced use of colour.

Entry requirements

No specialist equipment is required, as the college will provide all necessary equipment for exercises and projects. You will also have access to computers during the class (Apple Macs or PCs)., It would be helpful for you to bring a course folder and notepad (or equivalent), as you will be encouraged to make notes and record your own progress on the course.
