Calligraphy for Beginners

Learn essential calligraphy techniques with both brushes and nibs using inks, papers, pigments and the basics of gilding. Produce artworks and three dimensional objects, cards, boxes, and single section books. This course is suitable for beginners with an enthusiasm for lettering or for intermediate students looking to further their calligraphy skills.

Entry requirements

It would be helpful to bring: - An A3 sketchpad, Goldline, 95gsm recommended - Pencils (2H and HB), an eraser, ruler (preferably Perspex) and coloured crayons if you have any - A William Mitchell 00 nib, reservoir, and a pen holder. These and other nibs and materials required during the course will be discussed on your first lesson and you will be advised of the likely cost. Available from Cornelissens in Great Russell Street, near the British Museum.
