John Ruskin was a best selling nineteenth century author, read widely in Britain, Europe and America. Through his books 'Modern Painters' and 'Stones of Venice', Ruskin set the world on fire, igniting the revival of gothic architecture, fuelling the new art movement of Pre-Raphaelitism, and influencing tastes across Europe and America. His later works, such as 'Unto this Last' and 'Fors Clavigera', challenged the social inequality of industrial Britain.
