Understanding the Psychology of Narcissistic Personalities

This course will focus on well-known personality traits and disorders that affect our ability to maintain satisfying personal relationships with others. We will discover more positive ways of embracing these often destructive personality traits, drawing on research from the fields of psychology, psychotherapy and psychiatry.

Entry requirements

You should bring a notebook and pen. Hand-outs will be provided for each session. It is recommended that you organise your paperwork and purchase a ring binder file, a hole punch and a stapler in order to file your handouts. A reading list will be provided during the first session. We do not recommend purchasing a set book for this course but students are advised to read the following book in preparation for this session:, , The Narcissistic and Borderline Disorders: An integrated developmental approach by James F Masterson (1981).
