Free Motion Quilting for Beginners

Discover the pleasure of drawing with a sewing machine needle. This course will introduce students with a little or no experience of free motion quilting techniques. Students learn the basic techniques of free motion machine quilting and practice what you learn by making a machine quilted cushion. Students should know how to use a sewing machine.

Entry requirements

Please bring plain 100% cotton dress weight or quilting fabrics - without print. Upholstery fabrics or thick fabrics are NOT suitable. All fabrics should be pre-washed if possible. , 2 or 4 Squares of fabric measuring at least 15" x 15" for practising, 2 or 4 Squares of fabric measuring at least 16" x 16"., 2 or 3 squares of 2 oz Wadding - 16" x 16" - cotton/polyester or polyester., Please also bring the following items -250m matching thread for quilting - you may wish to use a slightly different colour to the background fabric to practice., Bobbins to fit a Bernina 1008 Sewing machine - Tutor may supply for £1.00, Note book and pencils and pens., Sewing Kit - including scissors, needles, Stitch Ripper, pins and threads - Please make sure that these are named. Mechanical Pencil for marking quilting lines.Basting spray 505 or threads for tacking.
