Over the two days of this Portrait Painting course in oils we will investigate a range of painting techniques and applications. We will learn to mix colour and study tone, using limited colour palettes. The course will hone your observation skills and help you develop your understanding of proportion of the head by mapping and identifying specific facial features. We will isolate and study the form and nature of eyes, ears, nose and mouth within the context of the head, neck and shoulders. , , By the end of the 2 session course you will have developed practical knowledge of painting the portrait in oils. You will have created an oil portrait sketch and 2 'alla prima' portraits., , Please bring two canvases and a range of bristle brushes (flat, round, and filbert, if possible), and two soft brushes for any details ,
