Morley Opera School

The Morley Opera course is for singers who possess a secure classical technique wishing to develop and combine stagecraft and performance with existing musical skills; culminating in a public performance each term. There will be classes to explore movement, recitative, and stage & recital etiquette, with many opportunities to gain that vital performance experience. This course is spread over three consecutive terms to develop the range of skills required for this challenging and fulfilling art form! Auditions are 14th, 15th and 16th July 18:00 - 21:00. Entry to the course is possible in Terms 2 and 3, however, this is dependent upon availability.

Entry requirements

Students may be expected to supply their own music (scenes and editions chosen by the course leader) and a Notebook for notes from the Director and Music Staff. Women: a loose full-length black rehearsal skirt and character shoes (or low-heeled lace up or buckle shoes), black tights or long black socks, long-sleeved white shirt or blouse which can be buttoned up. Men: black trousers, black lace up or buckle shoes, long-sleeved white shirt which can be buttoned up and black socks. Occasionally you may be asked to provide simple additions to costume such as tights or a T-shirt.
