This course offers a sustained approach to developing core strength, range of movement, and overall co-ordination skills working with the Pilates method. Exercises are performed using deep, slow movements that effectively train the core strength muscles, and all the major muscle groups of the body. The pace allows the body and mind to focus on producing fluid, centred, streamlined movement in the Pilates style. As the course progresses, more advanced options will be offered in some exercises as appropriate to students' ability. Alignment, flexibility and mobility are all emphasised within the programme, which should benefit posture, improve quality of movement in everyday life, and help to fine tune aspects of movement technique for fitness and recreational physical activity.
