This course is aimed at people who want to work as teaching assistants in school settings. It covers the main aspects of the teaching assistant's role, such as support for learning activities, working with colleagues and literacy and numeracy. It is suitable for work with children of any age in reception, primary, secondary or special schools. You will complete a range of practical, work-related tasks designed to demonstrate competence at work and so you must be on a practical placement as a teaching assistant for the whole period of the qualification. You will study 10 mandatory units in addition to at least two optional units that are relevant to your job role.
