The course involves completing 10 units, 6 mandatory and 4 optional. The mandatory units are: -Support pupils learning activities -Help to keep children safe -Develop and promote positive relationships -Promote positive behaviour -Reflect on and develop practice -Support the development and effectiveness of teams The qualification is an NVQ or National Vocational Qualification. To gain the qualification, learners will require an assessment by a qualified assessor, and will be asked to produce a portfolio of evidence to show that they meet the required standard. Learners must be able to demonstrate their knowledge and practice. Attendance at College is on a part-time basis; learners are expected to attend at least 80% of the programme. Learners will be shown how to gather evidence to meet the National Occupational Standards, in order to gain their NVQ qualification in Supporting Teaching & Learning in Schools.Once you have enrolled onto the programme you will be assigned an assessor that will visit you in the workplace regularly. They will complete assessment plans and reviews with you to keep you on target. They will support you in the collection of the required evidence needed for your qualification through different assessment methods such as; professional discussion, observations, written questions, verbal questions, witness statements and any assignments.The qualification promotes development within the candidates current role. Candidates may take on roles with higher responsibilities after completing the qualification. This would enable progression to Level 3/4 Award in Preparing to Teach in the Lifelong Sector (PTLLS).
