This is a beginners course, topics will include: - Basic grounding in hot and cold water systems, central heating, showering, domestic sanitary ware and other topics. - Identification of system types. - Awareness of water bylaws. - Use of basic plumbing tools and other equipment. - Measuring, cutting, bending and jointing pipe and tube. - Maintenance of taps and valves. There will be other practical work as time allows. A College Certificate will be awarded on request.The course is taught partly through theory and partly hands on. Practical tasks will include repair of taps, valves etc., some soldering and bending of pipes, fitting and dismantling sanitary ware. Individual topics to be visited in such depth as required by class consensus. Home based projects to be discussed as time allows.Further courses in plumbing include Technical Certificate Level 2. For those employed in the industry, there is NVQ Levels 2 and 3.
