The course involves an interview to select the most appropriate qualification units for you and to determine that the units and qualification level are achievable. The NVQ is assessed in the workplace and the candidate is observed performing the criteria laid down in the chosen units. Underpinning knowledge questions for those units are answered, satisfactorily completed. The qualification is gained by being observed satisfactorily performing the unit performance criteria and satisfactorily answering the underpinning knowledge questions. A portfolio of evidence is built to the satisfaction of the allotted assessor. The applicant should be competent in the chosen units and will be tutored to fulfil the requirements of the observation and underpinning knowledge assessments. A team of dedicated assessors will visit students in the workplace to ascertain technical and occupational competence in Mechanical Manufacturing Engineering. This is an assessed qualification and so no skills are taught.Once you have enrolled onto the programme you will be assigned an assessor that will visit you in the workplace regularly. They will complete assessment plans and reviews with you to keep you on target. They will support you in the collection of the required evidence needed for your qualification through different assessment methods such as; professional discussion, observations, written questions, verbal questions, witness statements and any assignments.Progression is from level 3 to level 4. Enhanced promotion prospects can be expected with a qualification in this specialism.
