This qualification is designed for learners interested in, or new to, working with individuals with learning disabilities. It covers a range of key areas of knowledge applicable to working in the sector. There are 6 mandatory units that are required to be successfully completed and they are: -Understand the context of supporting individuals with learning disabilities. -Introduction to personalisation in social care. -Principles of positive risk-taking for individuals with disabilities. -Principles of supporting individuals with a learning disability to access health care. -Introductory awareness of autistic spectrum condition -Principles of safeguarding and protection in health and social care. Learners must successfully demonstrate their achievement of all learning outcomes and assessment criteria of the units.Through guided learning using the student support material, one-to-one sessions with the tutor, group tutorials and independent study.Learners who achieve this qualification could progress to: -Level 2 Certificate in Preparing to work in Adult Social Care -Level 2 Certificate in the Principles of the Prevention and Control of Infection in Health Care Settings -Level 2 Certificate in the Principles of Dementia Care -Level 2 Certificate in Understanding Safe Handling of Medicines -Level 2 Certificate in Understanding Working in Mental Health -Level 2 Diploma in Health and Social Care (Adults) for England -Level 3 Certificate in Preparing to Work in Adult Social Care -Level 3 Certificate in the Principles of End of Life Care -Level 3 Diploma in Health and Social Care (Adults) for England
